When we think "beach", most Canadians will probably think the Bahamas, Florida, L.A., literally anywhere other than Canada. But you don't need to buy a plane ticket to enjoy a nice beach day — we have some great beaches right here in Ontario! Which ones will you check out?

Port Burwell

Port Burwell is also known as the jewel of Lake Erie's north shore. Besides the clean, soft, white sandy beaches, you can also enjoy hiking trails, camping grounds, a museum and historical sites, and other activities! Grand Bend

Grand Bend has been named one of Canada's best beach towns (yes, Canada has beach towns) and rightfully so. With the clear blue waters of Lake Huron and historic villages and a countryside vibe, Grand Bend is the perfect summer getaway, with something for everyone. Families and children will enjoy the several theatre, art, and music festivals that are hosted all summer long and teens and young adults can enjoy activities such as wakeboarding and parasailing! Rondeau Beach

Located on a sand spit in Lake Erie, Rondeau includes 11km of beaches and old-growth forests. It is Ontario's second oldest provincial park and also features a splash pad and zoo at the nearby Greenview Aviaries Park and Zoo, making it the perfect trip for families. Click here to see it on a map.

Sandbanks Beaches and Provincial Park

Sandbanks Provincial Park has three beaches and the world's largest baymouth barrier dune formation. Sandbanks is one of the best beaches in Canada according to visitors because of the clear, shallow waters, gentle drop-off, and soft white sand. Woodbine Beach

Woodbine Beach features many amenities other than its beautiful waters and sandy beach, like volleyball nets and playgrounds. This urban beach is a great choice for those who live in the Greater Toronto Area, since it's close to the downtown core. You can hit the beach during the day, and be two steps from Toronto's nightlife.
